WTS Alliance partner Sorainen in Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania has been awarded the title of “Baltic States Tax Firm of the Year”. For the first time, the prestigious publication International Tax Review, had evaluated Baltic tax firms.

The jury called Sorainen “the most innovative international and cross-border tax advice in the region”. Jānis Taukačs, head of the Sorainen Tax & Customs Team: “This is one of the highest possible international awards in the taxation field. We were delighted even to be nominated.” The awards were based on the size, innovativeness, and complexity of tax matters advised between February 2009 and February 2010. Also, the general capability of the tax teams involved was examined. Transaction experience submitted by the Sorainen Tax & Customs Team inter alia included tax advice to AON, Barclays Bank, Royal Boskalis Westminster NV, and Airo Catering Services. For the “Baltic States Tax Firm of the Year” award, Sorainen was nominated alongside Deloitte, Ernst & Young, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Sorainen was also nominated for the “Baltic Transfer Pricing Firm of the Year” award along the same three candidates.
